Meet Caitlin

I am a wife, mom, community servant, and leader.

Originally from Alabama, I moved to Garfield County in 2002 and fell in love with the people, culture, and scenery of this unique corner of Colorado. As is too often the case in our community, I couldn’t afford to stay. So I returned to Alabama for a time, where I graduated law school and started a family. I was able to return permanently in 2013.

In 2022, I had the honor of stepping onto Town Council for New Castle. As I dug into the role, I began to realize how great the need is for someone to thoughtfully and carefully steward Garfield County as we move out of the pandemic years, and into our future.

As a Councilor for the Town of New Castle, I work to ensure the town is intentionally addressing issues important to the needs of the growing community. I advocate for affordable housing, wildfire readiness, and sustainable builds. I brought in local experts for workshops to address the growing concern about wildlife encounters. I worked collaboratively with the existing county commissioners to approach Union Pacific to decrease the speed of the trains that go through town. I am continuously looking ahead and anticipating community needs so that we have the time and resources to address them thoughtfully and collaboratively.

The world of local government can feel confusing and intimidating, which is why I have intentionally created avenues for community members to give feedback to their elected officials. It is critical to take the time to explain things so that people across Garfield County have more understanding about things that are concerning or confusing. I've worked hard to listen and to take the feedback and questions of constituents directly to my colleagues and push for something, even if it is just information to be shared.

As your County Commissioner, my time in office will be marked by community listening and collaboration, because this is not about me, it is a ‘we’.
